The Good Newsroom

From the pain of breaking his leg to the joy of professional competitions, Matt Ogley reveals the highs and lows of bike stunting.

The 24-year-old business student at Sheffield Hallam University has been performing for eight years and says he’s proud to be part of a unique sport.

“It makes me really happy. When everything else goes wrong that’s what I’ve got going on.”

“It’s my thing that nobody else can do. It’s my own little universe.”

Bike stunting has gone viral in recent years – Danny MacAskill posted a video of himself in 2010 performing stunts as he rode from Edinburgh to his home in Dunvegan. The video now has over 31 million views on YouTube.

Matt says despite the publicity, bike stunting is still a niche sport.

“It’s the real fringe of cycling. Most places don’t sell anything for it. You have to get it all online.”
