Leanda Cave is hoping to have booked her ticket Commonwealth Games ticket to Glasgow after winning a second successive triathlon on consecutive weekends.

Former World Ironman champion Cave is this year aiming to drop down to the triathlon distance in which she was crowned world champion and won a Commonwealth Games silver medal in 2002 in Manchester.

Cave began her bid in style by winning the La Pas PATCO Triathlon Pan American Cup in Mexico last Saturday. The 36-year-old followed this up by winning the Valparaiso PATCO Pan American Cup in Chile today.

Cave, who is looking to join Non Stanford and Helen Jenkins in a Welsh dream triathlon trio of world champions in Scotland this summer, tweeted: “The season is off to a good start with another win here in Valparaiso ITU. I’m hoping that will stamp my ticket to the Commonwealth Games.”
