SEE IT: French ‘Spiderman’ scales 500-foot tower without a harness

Alain Robert climbed the Ariane Tower in France on Thursday, without using a harness or cables. ‘I was not afraid,’ the 51-year-old told reporters.

French climber Alain Robert, also known as "Spiderman", scales the 152 metre Ariane Tower at La Defense financial and business district outside Paris.

Serial urban climber Alain Robert stunned onlookers in a Parisian suburb by scaling up the 500-foot Ariane Tower on Thursday.

Although he admits to suffering from vertigo, the shaggy-haired Frenchman didn’t use a harness or cables during his 45-minute climb.

Cheers erupted from his audience when he reached the top of the office building.

“I was not afraid,” the 51-year-old told reporters. “I was just thinking I just need to climb carefully, having a good rest each time I am climbing one story.”

 But with great power comes great responsibility. The climber handed himself over to cops after the stunt, chatting with them casually as they escorted him to the station. He was later released without being charged, NBC reports.
