A train-surfer in South Africa

A train-surfer in South Africa –

The enjoyment of riding and feeling of speed, extended view of surrounding area in comparison with the view from a window inside a railcar; that’s how Chabedi Thulo described his feelings when he is Train surfing or staff riding as he says.

The phenomenon of riding on outside trains was mainly due to the extremely crowded trains of Johannesburgas well as to avoid the cost of a ticket but this was transformed through the creative minds of local youth into an extreme sport.

While some like Sibusiso Linda consider Train surfing as a good way of relieving stress and feeling the joy of life others such as Thabiseng Thulo view it differently as very risky thing to do and even a threat to life.

So whether do you agree with that or not we must admire these young men who never cease to amaze us with their creativity and imaginative ways.
