Rumors have been going around the Belgian press in the past few days about the possibility that Cross Vegas might—at long last—secure the first ’cross World Cup that the U.S. has ever seen. The rumors quotes UCI official Peter Van den Abeele in Antwerp Gazette as confirming the race.

However, while the UCI might be willing to consider the Las Vegas venue for a World Cup event, whether it will come to fruition still remains to be seen.

Brook Watts, the promoter of Cross Vegas, told us that, “It’s far from a done deal though discussions continue. My energy is focused on staging a successful 2014 event including the introduction today of a new sponsorship webpage and working with the team in Cincinnati to present the first Pan-American Cyclocross Championships.”

Stay tuned for more on the Pan-American Cyclocross Championships, a North American championship race similar to the European Championships, with fields—and massive points—for Elite Women, U23 racers and Juniors, as well as a C2 event for men.
