There was building the biggest indoor skydiving wind-tunnel, and even the most nails filed and varnished in 8 hours, now another far-reaching world record attempt is taking place in Dubai: The most bungee jumps in 24 hours.

One person will attempt to complete a shocking 200 jumps at the Dubai Autodrome in a 24 hour period spread across March 20 and March 21.

The record hunter is Dubai-based UK expat, athlete and fitness coach Colin Phillips, who has been training for this attempt for the last 12 months.

Phillips has been doing numerous consecutive jumps every weekend, working closely with the ground crew and jump master. He will be jumping from 90 metres using a 20 metre cord with a limit of 15 jumps an hour.

His first bungee bid session will start next Thursday at 7pm and end at midnight. The second session is from 6am to 10am the next day and the last from 2pm to 7pm.

The event will be operated by Gravity Zone, the only permanent bungee site in the UAE which operates in partnership with the UK Bungee club and adheres to UK standards.

The current record for most bungee jumps in 24 hours is 105 jumps. This was achieved by South Africa’s Kevin Scott Huntly May 8, 2011.

Huntly performed 105 jumps in 7 hours and 42 minutes, jumping at a speed of one jump every 4 and a half minutes, using a 40m bungee cord stretching three times its size for a total freefall of at least 120m each time.
