CNN – It’s not for the faint of heart: climbing Mt. Everest and taking a nose-dive down to the ground.

Joby Ogwyn has already climbed Everest – and hiked down – so it’s clearly a natural progression to then throw yourself off the world’s highest mountain.

“Essentially, I will be standing at the very tip-top,” he said. “I will probably take three or four steps, and then, I’ll be out of there.”

In May, Ogwyn plans to jump off the world’s highest mountain wearing a wingsuit.

He’ll soar for about 10 minutes, diving 10,000 to base camp and reaching speeds of 150 miles per hour – all while a worldwide audiences watches live on television.

“I’m hoping to be up there for a while and enjoy the flight,” he said. “This will be a chance of a lifetime for me. I probably won’t have it again.”

Ogwyn has been pulling these kinds of amazing stunts most of his life. He’s soared past mountains like the Matterhorn, and scaled many of the world’s tallest peaks – including Mount Everest – when he was just 24.

In 2010, he was the first person to fly past Everest in a wingsuit. It was his test flight.
