Philly Non-Profit Takes Students On Snowy Adventure

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – More than 50 Philadelphia students will hit the slopes today for free — thanks to a West Philadelphia non-profit that works with inner city youth.

“I look at it as being a mindset change. I know kids in West Philly that have never been to North Philly,” says Nehemiah Davis, who runs the Nehemiah Davis Foundation.

For the 4th year in a row, Davis has recruited sponsors, 20 chaperones and dozens of students for a day of skiing, snowboarding and tubing at Spring Mountain Adventures. He says the kids go free and will get lessons, but Davis has learned from experience, the trip is about more than fun in the snow:
